You need to be able to roll with the punches and deal with the rollercoaster of emotions that inevitably come with dating. Dealing with the recent death of a loved one, loss of a job, or a breakup? Probably not the best time. Wait until things have calmed a bit to take the online dating plunge.

2) Set realistic goals.
Not everyone meets his or her future spouse online. But that doesn’t necessarily amount to failure. This is about you and your personal growth. What do you want to accomplish for yourself independent of whether you end up in a relationship? Maybe your goal is to meet two new people a week or to try online dating for six months.
