winners announced at Mt. Lebanon Village Summer Games
During the 3rd Annual Mount Lebanon Village Intergenerational Summer Games held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the new Salvation Army Community Center, the following participants won awards:
Chase Your Elders Race: Anita Jones and Larry Jones
Jitterbug Contest: Gurney Bolster and Shari Mastolski
Ping Pong: Leo Fatur and David Firouzou
Basketball Foul Shooting: Ria Gilardi and Ed Grimm
Soccer Kicking: Tom and Matthew Quinn and Keira Quinn
T-Ball Home Run: Larry Jones and Phyllis Haduch
Outstanding Family: Jenny, Karen and Larry Evans
The Intergenerational Games are an annual day of fun recreational activity to engage generations by pairing up older folks with younger participants. The Games began with a Chase Your Elders Fun Run/Walk around the Devonshire Senior Residence and proceeded to a refreshing water balloon toss, followed by The Wing and a Prayer Interplay Troupe performance directed by Sheila Collins, Zumba by Janet Miller and Tai Chi by Gurney Bolster, and various picnic, gym and board games all at the Salvation Army Community Center.
Lunch was provided by Pittsburgh Barbeque Company, Mitchell’s Fish Market and Betsy’s Ice Cream with entertainment by Don Anderson and Bob Lee and his Blue Devils Blues Band performing a Sinatra Sing Along. After lunch participants entered a rousing Jitterbug Contest conducted by John Dryden and DJ Tyler Anderson, which concluded the day’s activity on a high note. Highmark and Interim Healthcare were the major sponsors for the event.
