We’re all good

hat began in a bedroom closet in their house on Cedar Boulevard during the pandemic has blossomed into 131 episodes of the Yinz Are Good podcast for creator and host Tressa Glover and her husband, Don DiGiulio.
“Not knowing if anyone is going to listen, let alone will it catch on, when I think of it now, there are 37 countries listening. That’s wild to me, although Pittsburghers are everywhere,” Glover said.
The premise is simple. Each episode features folks who are making a difference in their community by helping those in need and lifting people’s spirits. “We’re celebrating all those good people who are making it happen,”
Glover said.
A live taping in June, one of five live shows done since the podcast’s inception in 2020, was recorded in the intimate setting of The Blitzburgh Hideaway in the Babb Building, the old William Penn Snyder mansion on what was once Millionaire’s Row in Pittsburgh’s Allegheny West neighborhood.
The episode had a sports theme and recorded a star-studded lineup, which included Charlie Batch, former Steelers quarterback and community advocate; Gene Steratore, former NFL and NCAA basketball referee and current rules analyst for CBS Sports; Teresa Conn, owner/coach of the Pittsburgh Passion; Danasha Harris, Pittsburgh Passion safety; Russell Livingston, President and CEO of Babb, Inc.; and Jordan Taradash, PeopleOne Health CEO.
In addition to his time with the Steelers, Batch is well known for his Best of the Batch Foundation in Homestead, which provides year-round programs for children and families in need. Now in its 25th year, the foundation serves more than 3,800 children and their families in nine western Pennsylvania counties and is expected to increase to more than 6,000 kids annually.
“We’re trying to do our small part,” he told the live audience. “It’s all about the impact we’re making in the community.”
And that impact is growing, with a new 33,000-square-foot facility that houses, among other things, a STEAM lab, gaming and coding room and dance studio. “We’re on to something and we’re doing something good,” Batch said.
In addition to spotlighting the people doing good, Yinz Are Good also shares real-life stories from listeners about times when an act of kindness made a difference in their lives.
“If you put content like this out there, people will listen. They do want to know who’s helping, and how can I?” Glover said.
Yinz Are Good is available on Apple podcasts, iHeart Radio, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Podcasts and more.
