Hi! My name is Chloe Seletz and I am excited to have the opportunity to intern for Mt. Lebanon Magazine this summer.

I am a rising senior at Indiana University where I am studying public relations with minors in strategic communications and sociology. I have had multiple marketing and communications internships, specifically for Venture Outdoors last summer and a local nonprofit, LifeDesigns, in Bloomington, Indiana, throughout my junior year.

Last semester, I had the life-changing opportunity to study abroad in New Zealand, where I continued my communication studies. While abroad, I was a student blogger and I detailed all that I experienced during my exchange program.

I am originally from Columbus, Ohio; however, my mother, Susan Balk Seletz, and her family are from Mt. Lebanon and a majority of my family lives here today. Growing up visiting Mt. Lebanon throughout the years, I became familiar with the friendly and upbeat feeling the town offers. My family moved to Pittsburgh right after my high school graduation. Last summer was the first time I spent a long period of time here. Although it was a hard adjustment at first, I soon learned how inviting and comforting the city really is.

I believe this internship will be a unique opportunity to not only strengthen my journalistic skills, but to also enhance my knowledge and familiarity with Mt. Lebanon. I am looking forward to writing about a place where my family has created such a strong connection.

I have always had a growing interest in the media and publicity. I had the opportunity to manage various social media accounts throughout my PR career, as well as update website content and newsletters. My initial passion for writing was sparked in one of my PR writing courses. I learned the different types of writing that are encompassed in PR and the importance of persuasion.

I am eager to take my knowledge of PR and passion for Mt. Lebanon and combine them to leverage my skills at Mt. Lebanon magazine. This will be an entirely new writing experience for me and I am excited to learn and further develop this skill. I also hope to create my own personal relationship with Mt. Lebanon building on my family history.
