As part of the process for shaping Mt. Lebanon’s Comprehensive Plan, a document that serves as the foundation for municipal decision-making for the next 10 years, we would like to invite you to join us for a photo safari tomorrow morning on Washington Road. Unlike a surfin safari, which involves a lot of shooting the pier, and walking the nose, angling, kicking and who knows what else, a photo safari is when you walk up and down Washington Road, get pictures of what you like, don’t like, would like to see or would like to see go away. After about an hour and a half, everyone comes back to the municipal building, break into teams and, with the help of some staff and planners from Environmental Planning and Design, the firm that’s working with us to craft the comprehensive plan, your ideas will be transformed onto storyboards. On tomorrow’s safari, you have a couple of choices:

Option 1: Join the Tour

9 a.m. Meet at municipal building for photo safari. Bring your walking shoes and dress for the weather. Come armed with your camera, tablet, phone or other device for capturing images. Don’t forget your cords or memory devices.

10:30 a.m. Return to municipal building to print images and create storyboards (!).

11:20 a.m. Share your vision with your neighbors and the Mt. Lebanon comprehensive plan team.

Option 2: On Your Own

9 a.m.  Meet in the municipal building at 9 a.m. with images you have already collected. If you have been taking pictures in Mt. Lebanon already or want to go out and gather images ahead of time,  bring your files on a USB, CD, SD card or other device so that we can print them and you can use them to create your personal story about Mt. Lebanon.

9:45 a.m. Share your vision with your neighbors and the Mt. Lebanon comprehensive plan team.

10:30 a.m. Head out or stay and share with your neighbors who are returning from the morning photo safari.

This photo safari will cover the central part of Mt. Lebanon but you are welcome to take your own safari and head off to other parts of the community to take pictures and meet up back at the municipal building to share your story at 10:30 a.m.

If you can’t make it tomorrow, other safaris are planned for Friday, August 24 and Saturday, September 15.
