Unwrap the joy of shopping local in Lebo
Usually during the holiday season, I am tempted to do all of my shopping online at big retailers. Although since moving to Lebo, I have been so inspired by the small businesses that this year I am vowing to shop local and you should too! There is a plethora to choose from and to start you off I will list a few that I have visited below.
For Christmas décor
Foxglove Interiors — 440 Castle Shannon Boulevard
Foxglove Interiors is absolutely charming inside with hundreds of vintage Christmas items that are perfect for gifting the home-decorating lover or even gifting yourself. Among some of my favorites were vintage ornaments for only $4 each, hand-crocheted stockings and a beautiful vintage sled.
Mt. Lebanon Floral — 725 Washington Road
Walking into Mt. Lebanon Floral during the holidays is like stepping into The North Pole with the beautiful holiday decor. It’s the perfect place to buy a standout holiday dinner centerpiece in addition to your flowers.
For home furnishings
CUFF (Curated Fine Furnishings) — Online Only
CUFF was recently launched by two locals with a knack for home decorating and consignment. Whether you are looking to buy a show-stopping staple for your house or a friend’s, or you are looking to sell and make room in your home, CUFF is the curated place for you! I’m imagining cozying up by the fireplace with a Burnished Gold Scroll Fire Screen to ring in the holiday season.
The Golden Beetle
95 Central Square (off of Washington Road)
The Golden Beetle recently opened and has quickly become one of my favorite places. Right now, they have a display that makes it easy to build a beautiful charcuterie board for a host or hostess. They also have a variety of beautiful warm gloves that would make the perfect gift.
For the whole family
Barefoot Stitches and Gifts — 313 Beverly Road
Give a gift to the entire family that will bring them together this holiday season at Barefoot Stitches and Gifts! It can be overwhelming buying individual gifts for people, but Barefoot Stitches and Gifts has the solution! While browsing through the store, I learned that almost anything can be personalized through embroidery, hand lettering, vinyl lettering or engraving. They currently have a gift set on display featuring colorful board games in a bucket that can be personalized with a family name on it. Plus while you’re there, check out their grab-and-go hostess gifts that are pre-wrapped for an easy thank-you.
For the new baby of the family
Little Manners — 693 Washington Road
Outfit the newest edition to your family with some adorable baby outfits at Little Manners. Also, the store is full of small plushies to give a child a stuffed animal they will love forever! Throw in a little gift for the rest of the family too with these cute, wrapped soaps.
For the wellness seeker
Inner Light — 295 Beverly Road
One step into Inner Light on Beverly Road and I already felt myself calming down from the stress that the holidays can bring! Inner Light has an amazing array of crystals, candles and more. But, they also hold classes in a totally Zen area in the back of the store—classes that you can take or even gift to another person who is looking for some relaxation! The classes span wide topics such as Sound Healing, Meditation, Breathing and Tarot Card Readings. One that stuck out to me was a Vision Board class being held on January 9th from 5:30-8:30pm for $40. It’s the perfect way for you or someone you love to set 2024 off the right way
For the coffee lover
The Coffee Tree — 299 Beverly Road
In addition to buying your regular coffee, next time you stop into the Coffee Tree, take a look at the curated gift baskets they have on sale! I highly recommend their vanilla syrup and the cute “Oh Deer” chocolate bars, both of which are great stocking stuffers.
Orbis Caffe — 675 Washington Road
If you are in Uptown, Orbis Caffe has some great giftable grab and go items that you can snag while you wait to order your latte. There is a curated selection of snacks, special coffee brewing devices, custom tea blends, and more. Plus, right now there is a gorgeous holiday blend for coffee lovers!
For the pet lover
Bowes and Bones — 696 Washington Road
Newly opened in the heart of Uptown is Bowes and Bones! It’s the perfect place to get a gift for the furry friend of the family. They even feature an area in the store where you and your pet can get a holiday portrait. One of my favorite highlights is the bone stocking, which will make your dog or puppy feel included this holiday season. They also have adorable pre-wrapped ornaments for the pet lover in your life.
The Blooming Dahlia — 308 Beverly Road
The Blooming Dahlia is most known for its amazing floral arrangements, but did you know they also have great gifts inside? The cutest tote bag with painted pictures of pets can be found around the store. Additionally, they sell locally made toffee, pre-wrapped for you to slip into someone’s stocking!
For the Lebo lover
Commonwealth Press — 691 Washington Road
Did you know that you can get hand printed Lebo gear in at Commonwealth Press? I certainly didn’t until I ventured into the store. They’ve been selling t-shirts, records and skateboards since 2015! Skateboards may seem like they have only one obvious use, but they make great wall decor too!
For the music lover
Vinyl Remains — 692 Washington Road
Anyone will be able to find a record they like at Vinyl Remains, the record store in Uptown. Not only do they get new arrivals, but they have records from all different decades and genres. You can also purchase a record player here!
For a little Irish luck
The Celtic Cross — 729 Washington Road
If you’re looking to gift a little luck, the Celtic Cross is the perfect place to browse imported Irish goods including sweaters, jewelry, ornaments and more!
For holiday candy (or a gag gift)
Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop — 695 Washington Road
Grandpa Joe’s has all the holiday candy you can imagine, including some you can’t imagine like the Cesar salad, pickle, butter, and sour cream flavored candy canes! Whether you’re looking to buy candy related to your favorite holiday movie, or trick someone into eating a Cesar salad candy cane, you can find it all and more at Grandpa Joe’s.
