ultra party
The clouds broke and the rain stopped in plenty of time for this year’s ULTRAparty to bask in a beautiful summer evening. More than 1,500 people attended the street party on Saturday, August 3, which featured the music of Jimbo and the Soupbones, who played everything from funky originals to covers of the likes of Prince, Stevie Wonder and Hall and Oates.
Early estimates put the fundraising total at about $14,000. The event will benefit the Accessible Lebo Fund, which will purchase several pieces of play equipment for Mt. Lebanon Park. The equipment, to be installed at the left of the stairs where the sandbox is now, should cost about $12,000 and would be mounted on a rubberized fall surface.
The evening proved successful for the eateries on Washington Road, which were packed with partygoers from happy hour through late evening. Mt. Lebanon police reported no problems with the well-behaved crowd.
ULTRAparty, presented by the Mt. Lebanon Partnership, has raised more than $100,000 since it began seven years ago.
Sponsors included: mtl—Mt. Lebanon Magazine, Higher Images, Daniel Pipitone Design, Pearson and Scott, Howard Hanna, Empire Music, Rollier’s Hardware and The Saloon.
Plans are already under way for next year’s street party. Stay tuned to Mt. Lebanon Magazine for all the details.
