As a fan of consignment shopping, I’ve been curious about Treasures by Lisa, a small local shop at 302 Castle Shannon Boulevard. On a Saturday afternoon, I find the parking lot in back, and walk around to the front.
Inside I meet the owner, Lisa Federici. If you grew up in Mt. Lebanon you might already know Lisa, a Mt. Lebanon High School graduate from the class of ’75. Lisa grew up around antiques and when she opened the doors to her shop in 2011 it was a dream come true. She lives and breathes the business, with the shop open Tuesday through Saturday, leaving Sundays and Mondays open to collect more merchandise and update her website.
I roam around the shop, set in a cozy house. The prices are surprisingly affordable, with some large furniture pieces priced as low as $100. Scattered around the periphery of the rooms are vignettes showcasing furniture and accessories. Tucked in corners I discover jewelry, decorative pillows and table runners.
A trip to the basement reveals the 50 percent off clearance items. There really isn’t much down there, leading me to believe that Lisa must move her merchandise quickly enough to avoid the clearance room.
I am also interested in selling some items, so Lisa tells me about all the ways people can consign their items. The best idea is to contact Lisa in advance, and bring items to the shop.
