FEEDING THE METER Drivers have a new option to pay for parking in Mt. Lebanon. Meter Feeder [2], an app that allows drivers to pay from their car without interacting with a meter, joins ParkMobile [3] and Passport [4].
“Adding options doesn’t hurt, doesn’t take anything away,” said Andrew McCreery, Mt. Lebanon’s director of finance. McCreery said the municipality looked at Meter Feeder in 2017, but at that time the app, which was developed in Pittsburgh, was not able to handle the enforcement, “but now they have that capability.”
Meter Feeder has a geolocation feature that pinpoints where a vehicle is parking, and allows the driver to pay with a stored credit card—stored on the driver’s phone, not on the app’s servers.
Meter Feeder users don’t have to create an account, and the app has an option to automatically add more money to the meter as needed.
