SEEKING JUNIOR COMMISSIONERS The Commission is seeking two Mt. Lebanon students to serve as junior commissioners for the 2021-22 school year. Candidates must be rising high school juniors or seniors and will serve one semester. They will attend public meetings, report on student initiatives and get a close-up look at local government. OPENING UP The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon History Center, 794 Washington Road, is open to the public again on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with additional days and hours to be added in the future. Masks and social distancing are required, and the center will initially be limited to under 20 percent of capacity. BANNER COMMUNITY Mt. Lebanon was once again recognized as a Banner Community for its outstanding commitment to professional development, prudent fiscal management, transparency, accountability and proactive communications to engage community stakeholders.
This is the eighth straight year that Mt. Lebanon received this recognition, which is sponsored by Allegheny County and the Allegheny League of Municipalities. A total of 71 municipalities and five municipal authorities were recognized this year. Mt. Lebanon is one of 54 municipalities to receive the designation for multiple years.
FINANCIAL EXCELLENCE For the 43rd consecutive year, Mt. Lebanon has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, and for its Popular Annual Financial Report, both covering the 2019 fiscal year.
