SAMMICHES ON THE WAY  Belly up to the counter at 638 Washington Road soon and you will walk away with an absolutely fresh sandwich, promises Orchard Drive resident Mike Crupi, who hopes to open Lebo Subs in early 2014.

His focus is on ingredients, which is why he will be roasting turkey and beef on site. They’re just part of the classic deli selections you’ll be able to choose from, including ham, chicken salad, tuna, veggies, hot Italian sausage and meatballs. The specialty of the house will be the Lebo, a sub with Swiss cheese, bacon, ham, turkey and roast beef. Lebo subs also will feature fresh soups daily and homemade pasta salads.

Crupi has had similar stores in Georgia for the last 10 years and got into the business because he thought it would be fun. “It’s fun to interact with people and be part of the community.”

GONE FISHING Popular outdoor retailer Orvis opened its doors in The Galleria in November and plans its grand opening festivities for December 6 through December 8, says district manager Tory Myler. Customers will be able to register to win gift cards and other promotions and snack on refreshments.

The 6,000-square-foot store, which employs about 10 people, is the first-of-its-kind fly fishing concept store, with areas for “Genius bar” classes, rod racks and fixed ring areas. While it carries men’s and women’s clothing and holiday gifts, “fly fishing is the heart and soul of the brand,” Myler says.

Orvis has a large catalog business, and anything shoppers want that is not carried in the store can be ordered there and shipped home for free.

In January and February, the store will offer fly-tying classes, including Fly Fishing 101, which includes casting and rigging and Fly Fishing 201, which will be taught out on one of our local waterways. Customers can also expect seminars on local fish and other instructional events.
