Mt. Lebanon Public Library opened in one room of the municipal building on November 15, 1932, with a collection of more than 8,000 books, all donated by residents and many of which were collected by Boy Scouts. The Mt. Lebanon Lions Club was the driving force behind establishing the library, with volunteers staffing the desk, but other community organizations assisted with fundraising.
