The Rear Window

Mt. Lebanon puts a high value on the arts. The library’s entry hall is lined with the work of local artists; the high school arts show is a must-see event each spring; the municipality is working on a plan this year to promote art in public spaces. In recognition of this devotion, we are using our back page to showcase a different artist in each issue.

Talia Pizzuti, first year AP Art student at Mt. Lebanon High School

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawn to art as a way to express how I feel and what I am experiencing. This year I have been focused on how I can create emotion and beauty in my pieces that anyone can relate to. The orchids in this painting express a feeling of hopefulness, because of their vibrant colors and blooming petals. My goal with this painting was to achieve a photorealistic effect that evokes a feeling of appreciation for nature.
