The Pines of Mount Lebanon, 1537 Washington Road, recently recognized 11 military veterans with a Wall of Honor as part of renovations to the senior living facility.

IntegraCare, which operates 17 communities in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, spent more than $500,000 on exterior and interior enhancements, which included all the common areas, activities rooms, guest rooms, some sleeping rooms and suites, as well as the Wall of Honor.

According to Kristie Barney, Community Relations Director, the wall symbolizes the dedication, resilience and achievements of the veteran residents who served their country. “It’s everything. It’s who we are as a country,” she said.

Army Veteran Rick Evans, who served during the Vietnam War, said “it’s nice to get some level of recognition finally. It’s been a long time coming.”

The Mt. Lebanon Police Department Honor Guard provided a presentation of the colors and Commissioner Anne Swager Wilson, Ward 3, provided remarks at the January 22 ceremony.

“It was nice,” said WWII Army veteran Vincent Fenicato, commenting on the ceremony recognizing the veterans.

The Pines has served the South Hills for over 35 years.
