Like pretty much everything else in the world this year, the Mt. Lebanon Public library has had to trim its sails to accommodate for the storm that COVID-19 brought. This means two of the library’s most popular events—the garden tour and the summer reading club—will still be around, but in a different format. 

The theme of this summer’s reading club, open to children, teens and adults, is Imagine Your Story. A full slate of virtual reading programs are slated for the club, which kicked off on June 15 and progresses until August 7.  Many of the programs will be on the online video platform Zoom. Special weekly storytimes, engaging interactive activities, and special presenters are on tap for younger children. The adult program will feature author talks, weekly discussion groups, presentations on variety of topics and weekly book chats. The teen program will include book discussions, STEAM programs funded by Matt’s Maker Space and interactive activities.

The volunteers who work to put the garden tour together have been collecting garden photos all spring, and are planning to incorporate the best ones into a slide show that will run on the library’s website all day, Sunday, July 12, the date the tour was scheduled. Shorter slide shows of individual categories, such as spring flowers, water features, pets in the garden and more, will run on mtlebanonlibrary.org in the weeks leading up to the show.
