@ the library

NEW LOOK If you haven’t been on the Mt. Lebanon Public Library’s website in a while, you should refresh and check out the redesigned site. Jeremy White, the library’s associate director for information technology, spearheaded the redesign, which was done by CivicPlus with input from a committee of library employees, including library director Robyn Vittek, associate director Sharon Bruni and librarians Sarah McGowan, Scott Buchanan and library clerk Natasha Krut.
A cleaner landing page manages the information in a more user-friendly way, and the new site better responds to mobile devices and interacts with accessibility tools like screen readers.
Other features include moving the kids’ and teen links to the main navigational menu and replacing the scrolling banner with a single feature slide, with more spotlights at the bottom of the page.
EARTH DAY It’s Earth Day all month long in the children’s library. Nature programs and environmental-themed booklists are part of the plan, as are a scavenger hunt and a nature-themed story walk outside the library. Also available: nature book packs with resources to help you explore Allegheny County parks. Find out more at www.mtlebanonlibrary.org/kids.
BEER MONEY The Friends of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library’s virtual beer tasting event in February brought in $2,680, split among ticket sales, beer sales and donations. Mindful Brewing in Castle Shannon partnered with the library for the tasting.
