The Coolest Thing In PA: Primanti Bros.

The Mt. Lebanon Primanti Bros. is giving out free beer today to celebrate the restaurant being named “Coolest Thing Made in PA.”
Customers are entitled to one free 12 oz. domestic bottle while supplies last at all Primanti locations, including 1539 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon.
The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry’s bracket-style contest asked voters to weigh in on Twitter. Primanti Bros. received 53 percent of the more than 32,000 votes.
“The public spoke and we’re thrilled about it, ” said Jim Prezioso, director of marketing, who was at the Washington Road location Wednesday morning. “It’s such an honor that the Twitter community came out and supported us against some great brands.”
The 90-year-old restaurant chain, famous for piling french fries and coleslaw on its sandwiches, beat Mrs. T’s Pierogies in the championship round face-off.
When Jonathan Goodnough, Banksville, has out-of-town visitors, he brings them to Primanti’s. “Primanti’s is a staple. When you think Pittsburgh, you think Primanti’s,” he said, while sitting at the bar of the Mt. Lebanon restaurant.
Tony Rao, Brookline, is a frequent customer at the Mt. Lebanon Primanti’s. “I like the atmosphere. They’re friendly here. That’s why I come here. This place makes me feel comfortable,” he said.
Thirty-two organizations competed in the “Coolest Thing Made in PA” contest, which began on March 14. In addition to bragging rights, Primanti Bros. will receive complimentary tickets to next year’s Annual PA Economic Forecast and Business Leadership Summit where they will be honored.
