Sure sign of spring: Daffodil Days

Daffodils are symbolic of rebirth and renewal. One of the first flowers to bloom in the spring, their bright yellow petals stand out against the fading grey of winter. The flowers also represent hope for cancer patients and their loved ones.

Daffodil Days is back for its 16th year in Mt. Lebanon. The annual American Cancer Society (ACS) campaign is taking orders now through February 18 for spring flowers.

Potted and cut daffodils available at last year’s sale, inside Rollier’s Hardware.

All proceeds support cancer-related research, programs and other local services. According to Kris Callender, Development Manager of ACS and coordinator of Relay for Life of Mt. Lebanon, “Our mission is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer.”

Available offerings include cut daffodils, potted mini daffodils, cut tulips and a Gift of Hope, which is a bouquet sent to local hospitals and senior centers.
