Dr. Melissa Friez, Mt. Lebanon School District Superintendent

As we embark on the new school year, educational excellence and our students’ well-being remain our top priorities. This year, we will collaborate with our board of directors, staff, families and the Mt. Lebanon community to develop a strategic plan to shape the future of the Mt. Lebanon School District. I look forward to the opportunity to build our future together.

Reflecting on the community’s role in our strategic plan, I’m reminded of the value of a strong school-community partnership. Through academic opportunities, community service projects, and community-based athletics and fine arts performances, the district is always leveraging opportunities to educate our students and staff beyond the walls of the classroom, using resources right here in Mt. Lebanon. To name a few, during the school year
Mt. Lebanon police and fire, the library, and the Historical Society of Mount Lebanon partner with our schools to educate and inform our students. In July, our administrative team hosted our annual administrative retreat at the Mt. Lebanon Public Safety Center. The police department supported our learning while focusing on school safety. The administrative team also participated in a team-building scavenger hunt that tested their Mt. Lebanon history knowledge, while supporting local businesses on Washington Road. As the superintendent, I am humbled by the community support and thankful our students live in a community that values education and strong partnerships.

With the start of a new school year, it is always a great time to remind our community of the ways they can stay connected to our school community.
