Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy has opened at St. Clair Health on the main floor of Dunlap Family Outpatient Center. The full-service pharmacy represents an innovative concept in retail pharmacy, providing a range of specialized and convenient on-site capabilities that enhance the patient’s experience and expedite discharge to home.
According to Robert B. Reynolds, Pharm.D., Director of Pharmacy Services for St. Clair Health, Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy offers numerous advantages for patients and families, including the ability to immediately fill prescriptions, right there in the Dunlap Family Outpatient Center lobby, following a diagnostic procedure, outpatient surgery or cancer treatment. “There is no longer a need for the patient to stop at a community pharmacy on the way home,” Reynolds said. “We fill your prescription right here and our specially trained pharmacists provide detailed instructions on how to take the medications correctly. We also deliver right to the patient bedside, through a program called ‘Meds to Beds.’ There is no waiting, so you can get home quickly to begin your recovery.”
Pharmacy manager Ashley Blazewick, Pharm.D., added, “Our pharmacists make a follow-up call within 48 hours to see how things are going.”
In addition to filling prescriptions for outpatients at Dunlap Family Outpatient Center, Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy serves inpatients and members of the community. “We serve everyone,” Reynolds said. “You can fill prescriptions and purchase over-the-counter products here.”
