Wine lovers who have been suffering through Pittsburgh’s plethora of craft breweries without a place to call their own can celebrate. Apericena—the Italian word for a glass of wine to open your palate for dinner—is a new wine bar at Siena at St. Clair.
Owners Brad Witucki, Seneca Drive, Hal Kestler, Outlook Drive and Brian Dzikin, South Fayette, have crafted a cozy, 1,500-square-foot nook with tables and a bar, to enjoy more than 100 different wines from all over the world. Thirty wines are available by the glass.
It’s not a restaurant, but you can order small plates, from nuts and mixed olives to flatbreads and four types of charcuterie. Desserts also are available.
If you’re not a wine person, Apericena has beer by the bottle, a few specialty cocktails and about 12 to 14 different types of liquor.
“We want you to hang out, sip your wine and enjoy,” Witucki says. “Have good conversation.”
The front of the bar opens to the air for good weather and outdoor seating is available.
