relay for life is may 31
This is the fifth year that Mt. Lebanon has held a Relay For Life event. The 24-hour vigil and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society kicks off at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 31, at the Mt. Lebanon High School stadium. If you’ve never been to a Relay event before, members of relay teams which have raised or donated money for the Cancer Society circle the high school track for 24 hours as a way of commemorating cancer victims and celebrating survivors.
The day also features music and other entertainment, food and craft booths and special events, such as the Survivor Lap, when relayers clear the track for cancer survivors, and a luminaria ceremony at 9 p.m., when luminaria candles are lit and placed around the track and in the stands, each with the name of a loved who who has been lost to cancer, or is fighting the disease, or a survivor.
