Earth Day comes once a year but Mt. Lebanon recycles all year long. In addition to regular bimonthly curbside recycling, the municipality holds monthly events for residents to recycle electronics, paper, yard waste and tree branches. For more information about recycling, visit the website.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES Bring electronic devices for recycling to the public works yard at 1250 Lindendale Drive (off Cedar Boulevard) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Saturdays listed. Items that will be accepted at the free event include televisions (limit one per car), computer monitors, laptops, printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, radios, telephones and cell phones, VCR and DVD players, appliance and car batteries, video games, household appliances and major appliances.

PAPER Bring your confidential papers and documents to the public works yard on Lindendale Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. First box is free and additional boxes are $5 each. Staples, paper clips and plastic binders do not need to be removed.

WOODY WASTE CURBSIDE PICKUP  Reservation is required. Call 412-343-3403, between Monday and no later than 4:30 p.m. on the Thursday the week of pickup. Materials that will be collected are limited to shrubs, tree branches and limbs (no leaves in bags). Please have your materials placed at the curb (not in the street) before 7 a.m. on the pickup day.

All dirt and debris should be removed from the roots of shrubs. Soil, rocks, leaves, grass clippings and ornamental grasses will not be picked up.

Small branches should be gathered into piles (not bound) not exceeding 24 inches in diameter and 48 inches in length.

Large tree limbs should be no longer than 6 feet in length and no thicker than 5 inches in diameter. The total amount put out for any one pickup should not exceed more than can be placed into a single pickup truck.

If the above guidelines are not followed, then the materials will be deemed uncollectable and left at the curbside.

YARD WASTE Drop off your yard waste at the golf course maintenance facility on Pine Avenue between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., from May through the first Saturday in October. Leaves in recyclable craft bags, small twigs, shrubs, brush and branches (under 3 feet) are accepted. No grass clippings, stones, soil, stumps, large limbs or plastic bags.

HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS The Pennsylvania Resource Council is planning several household chemical collection events this year. Events are on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $3 per gallon, cash only. For a list of acceptable items and more information, visit PRC.
