Rear Window: art by Anja Williams

A surrealist moody looking painting of a man with arrows coming out of the top of his head, behind the man is a cabinet and old fashioned record play, and a small table with a pot and wilted flowers on it. On the wall behind that is abstract wavey looking clocks with the hands of the clock pointing in all different directions

Anja Williams, first-year AP Art student at Mt. Lebanon High School

I come from a very artistic family. I was always encouraged to express myself through art. I have enjoyed experimenting with different media to create surrealistic imagery. I focused on the exploration of human expression and emotion through 2D media. In this piece, I was inspired by my dad coming home from work and the concept and constructs of time. The process will undoubtedly influence the style, creation, and symbolism of my future pieces. My goal for this piece was for it to be open to interpretation, allowing the audience to discover their own meaning and connection to the art itself.
