October 6 through 12 is National Fire Prevention Week, and this year the National Fire Protection Agency is focusing on preventing kitchen fires because more fires start in the kitchen than in any other part of the home. In fact, a kitchen fire occurs every 8 minutes in the United States. Mt. Lebanon is no exception… the majority of  fire calls the department responds to every year  started in the kitchen.

To celebrate National Fire Prevention Week, Mt. Lebanon Fire Department and the Mt. Lebanon Public Information Office have teamed up to create five instructional videos. We will post one every day between Monday October 7th and Friday October 11th. These videos offer simple tips for ways you can prevent kitchen fires, how to keep you and your family safe in the kitchen, what to do if you have a fire, and other ways you can make your home safer.
