Game, set, match!

Some of the best professional tennis players in the world will gather in Mt. Lebanon for the Pro Circuit 15 tournament, Monday, July 24 through Sunday, July 30.

The $15,000 in total prize money, provided by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), is divided up among 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams.

“They’re not here for the money,” according to tournament director Hank Hughes, who also serves as the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center director and head tennis pro.

“The reason that these young men come here is because they want points,” he said.

The USTA Pro Circuit gives players the opportunity to accrue the professional ranking points they need to compete on major pro tours.

In preparation for the Men’s 15, the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center will close to public play on Friday, July 21 at noon and remain closed for the duration of the tournament.

While matches go on all day, a featured match, weather permitting and selected by Hughes, will take place on Court 8 at 5:30 p.m. each evening of the tournament. Spectators are welcome. Admission to the tournament is free.

“It’s the only men’s professional tennis tournament in Pennsylvania, so it’s a pretty big deal,” Hughes said.
