Daniel Jenkins, Elm Spring Road, won a Northwestern Mutual Outstanding Community Service Award for his involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh. Jenkins has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters for more than 20 years, working as a mentor, serving on multiple committees and organizing the organization’s annual
[1]events. A Northwestern Mutual wealth management adviser at JKS Financial, he currently serves as the Big Brothers Big Sisters board president. Big Brothers Big Sisters received $10,000 on behalf of the Foundation, and Jenkins was recognized for his achievement, along with 24 other recipients, at the nonprofit’s annual “Big” Summer Picnic this summer…John McGinty,a 2009 Mt. Lebanon High School graduate, spent a week this summer shooting hoops with LeBron James and Kobe Bryant as the basketball stars prepared for the 2012 Summer Olympics. McGinty is a senior at Duke University, where he has been a manager for the men’s basketball team since his freshman year. Duke’s head coach, the legendary Mike Krzyzewski, coached the men’s Olympic team, and he invited McGinty and two other Duke managers to accompany them to Las Vegas for a week of practice. McGinty helped Krzyzewski set up practices, load team buses and run drills on the court. “The sheer skill of these players was impressive.” The athletes were “very appreciative of our work,” McGinty says. The Roycroft Drive resident was excited to meet the athletes who went on to represent America. “I got to be a small part of helping them prepare,” he says…

With the addition of these services, Gateway now offers the full range of civil engineering capabilities. “From the traditional engineering standpoint, there’s nothing we can’t do,” says Ryan Hayes, Gateway director of business development. The firm brought on a traffic engineer and multiple environmental engineers in response to steadily increasing client demands. This expansion was crafted with both efficiency and value in mind, as Gateway outsourced such projects in the past. “It’s a strategic approach from us that has already paid off,” says Hayes, citing fiscal growth for the company in both areas. By being able to offer traffic and environmental services from within the firm, this expansion is projected to save both money and time for Gateway’s clients. “We’re happy to be able to be able to provide this service and another layer of value and cost effectiveness for our clients,” says Hayes.
