Mary Birks is the new executive director of Outreach Teen & Family services, having served as the nonprofit agency’s interim director since November.

Founded in 1974, Outreach provides counseling to young people and their families. Mt. Lebanon residents are eligible for two free sessions and, if needed, additional sessions at a reduced rate. A sliding scale of reduced fees is available for those who meet income eligibility. The organization also accepts medical insurance.

Birks, Sunset Drive, was a member of Outreach’s board from 2006-08 and again in 2012-14. During her time as interim director, she led Outreach in developing a fundraising plan, restructured job descriptions and staffing and ensured the agency is complying with all government regulations.

Birks earned a communications degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is serving her second term on the Mt. Lebanon School Board, where she is vice president and the liaison for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and the National School Boards Association. She has lived in Mt. Lebanon for nearly 50 years.

Also at Outreach, Christina Hostutler, a licensed clinical social worker, was promoted to clinical director and will supervise all counselors and direct clinical services. And Jean Magazzu is now the development and marketing manager, overseeing communications and fundraising activities.

Lisa Freeman, Austin Avenue, has received the Realtors Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh’s Community Service Award. Freeman, a vice president with Freeman Realty, has served on the board of several nonprofit organizations, including WIN-Pittsburgh and the American Forestry Foundation Woman’s Group. She is a trustee for the Foundation of Realtors Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh, and a member of the association’s board of directors.

Attorney Greg Teufel, Neulon Avenue, has opened OGC Law in the Executive Building, 615 Washington Road. Teufel, who has 20 years experience, will continue to focus his practice on the areas of outside general counsel, commercial litigation and commercial contracts.
