Aileen Owens, Hazel Drive, received the Digital Innovation in Learning Administrator Trailblazer Award. This award is presented to an education administrator who implements an innovative, unique school model that develops student creativity, or otherwise fosters authentic learning in an unconventional way. Owens is director of technology for the South Fayette School District. She was recognized for revamping the district’s computer learning program and integrating engineering and design problem-solving processes into the curriculum. This program is sponsored by technology education organizations EdSurge and Digital Promise.

The awards competition recognizes the achievements of Pittsburgh’s top CFOs as exceptional financial stewards for their companies. Willow Drive resident Patrick West has been appointed to the Pennsylvania State Board of Landscape Architects. West, a landscape architect and project manager with the firm MCFA, is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and is certified by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB). The State Board of Landscape Architects regulates the licensure and registration of landscape architects.

She also has clients in the areas of guardianship, asset protection, Medicaid planning, estate trust administration and special needs trusts

 

The Denis Theatre Foundation has appointed three new members to the group’s board of directors. Elmer Burger, Woodland Drive, is a planner and architect with Point Park University, where he directs a $244 million campus and public enhancement public space plan. Burger, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, has worked on a wide range of design projects in Washington D.C., Boston, and Pittsburgh. Ellie Hall, a human resources specialist specializing in leadership and senior team development, is a former member of the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival in Colorado Springs. Katie Martina, Linda Lane, is a freelance copywriter and a business administration and marketing student at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Mt. Lebanon native and Denis Theatre volunteer with expertise in social media and event planning.
