new firefighter
WELCOME Steve Quatchak is Mt. Lebanon’s newest career firefighter. Quatchak has a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and has volunteered with the McCandless and Ingomar fire departments. Quatchak replaces John Mokricky, who retired in October after 34 years with the municipality—nine years as a volunteer firefighter, 14 months with the department of public works and then 23 years as a career firefighter. “John would do anything for anyone,” says Fire Chief Nick Sohyda. “He was mechanically inclined and repaired and fixed a lot of things around the firehouse… I think now that he’s gone, we are really going to realize all the little things he’s done.”
