Medical Rescue Team South Authority (MRTSA) provides ambulance and emergency medical services to approximately 74,000 residents, spread over 14.38 square miles, in six South Hills communities, including Mt. Lebanon.

Founded in 1976, MRTSA responds to approximately 11,000 calls per year and provides 24/7 advanced life support. In addition to ambulance services, MRTSA is committed to the continued improvement of preventive and dynamic health care services. They offer classes and programs to the community, including car seat safety courses, CPR and first aid training. MRTSA also provides medical standby coverage at sporting events for the communities they serve, an EMS bike team and an honor guard for community events.

MRTSA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) municipal authority with two representatives from each community making up its board of directors. MRTSA recently underwent a resurgence that included hiring a new leadership team, along with $2 million in improvements. They even debuted three new, state-of-the-art ambulances.

MRTSA relies on donations and its membership base to remain operational. A subscription costs $60 for an individual, $80 for a household and $100 for a business, which covers 50 percent of your copay or deductible.
