If you’ve been reading all about Medical Rescue Team South Authority (MRTSA)’s  rejuvenation, now’s your chance to see it in person.

Visit the Mt. Lebanon station, 315 Cypress Way, for an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 21.

The event will include food trucks, a tour of the recently upgraded facility and your chance to meet one of MRTSA’s  newest members, CJ, a therapy dog in training. The Ausiedoodle will be on hand for pawtographs. You can also learn hands-only CPR during the event.

“This is a way to celebrate our EMS providers, and encourage families to celebrate with us, while showcasing our services to the community,” said Brieanna Gerner, chair of MRTSA’s community outreach and public affairs committee. “We get called out to see people who are having the worst day of their life, this allows us to pull back a little and show what we do on a daily basis.”

The open house is planned on the final day of National EMS Week. The hope is that it will provide an inside glimpse into what MRTSA does for the community.

“This event is a great opportunity for the people we serve to get to know us without being sick or injured,” MRTSA Chief Josh Worth said. “There is so much more to EMS than the lights and sirens, and this event will showcase how the individuals at MRTSA prepare behind the scenes before they are seen out on the road at an emergency call.”

The open house will also feature a kids station and is the perfect activity for families as they head toward the end of the school year, Gerner said.

You will even receive free raffle tickets just for stopping by or completing a tour of the station to enter to receive a gift basket.

“We’re just really excited to have people come in,” she said. “It’s really nice to be able to bring together the community.”

Bring donations of unopened pet food in CJ’s honor that will support Ellie’s Pet Pantry and get an extra raffle ticket.
