Uptown Coffee was more crowded than usual on Monday, as residents of all ages came to have coffee with Mt. Lebanon Municipal Manager Keith McGill. Packed around a large table, about 15 residents, including parents, students and business owners, asked their questions, discussed concerns, presented a few gripes and told many, many stories.

The Community Relations Board will host three more public meet and greets at different locations around Mt. Lebanon with McGill, who became municipal manager in January. The conversation this morning was fluid, moving from talk of expanding the LRT system to commercial development, taxes, the fire department and more.

While much of the conversation focused on Mt. Lebanon’s better qualities, when presented with complaints, such as conditions with garbage on Parse Way, McGill was happy to listen and invited residents to call him and other municipal employees to discuss issues at more length. Although some residents came with purpose, others were interested to just “put a face to a name,” as McGill said.

McGill, who grew up in Mt. Lebanon, plans to be accessible to residents and says he loves meeting community members and hearing their points of view. And, if you call him, he promises to always get back to you. “Mt. Lebanon is a great community, a community of neighborhoods,” McGill said. “People move to Mt. Lebanon for the school district, but they stay for the community.”
