Medical Rescue Team South and St. Clair Hospital

Founded in 1976, Medical Rescue Team South Authority (MRTSA) provides ambulance and emergency medical services to approximately 74,000 residents, spread over 14.38 square miles, in six South Hills communities: Mt. Lebanon, Baldwin Township, Castle Shannon, Dormont, Green Tree and Whitehall. MRTSA responds to approximately 10,000 calls per year and provides 24/7 advanced life support.

In addition to ambulance services, MRTSA is committed to the continuous improvement of preventive and dynamic health care services, and as such, offers classes and programs that include car seat safety courses, CPR,  first aid and concussion testing training. MRTSA also provides medical standby coverage at sporting events for the communities they serve, an EMS bike team and an honor guard for community events.

MRTSA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) municipal authority with two representatives from each community making up the board of directors. It relies on donations and its membership base to remain operational. Memberships are $47 for an individual and $75 for a household, which covers any co-pay, deductible or balance related to ambulance billing. Visit www.mrtsa.com for more information.

St. Clair Hospital is an in-dependent, 329-bed acute-care medical center that provides advanced, high-quality health care to the residents of southwestern Pennsylvania. A member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network, St. Clair has 600 physicians and 2,500 employees. St. Clair Hospital is Mt. Lebanon’s largest employer.

With services for residents at each stage of their lives, the hospital is focused on continuously enhancing its services and technologies to ensure that the community’s health needs are met. The hospital offers an array of inpatient and outpatient services, including advanced cardiovascular services; specialized care for women and children; oncology services; orthopedics; emergency care; urgent care; and psychiatry and mental health services.

St. Clair is a top-level performer in patient safety, clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and value. In 2019, the hospital earned its 15th consecutive ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog, a hospital safety watchdog organization,  for hospital safety, and it ranks at the top in patient satisfaction throughout the nation. St. Clair was also recognized by IBM Watson as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals, marking the fifth time it has achieved this prestigious honor. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded St. Clair Hospital a five-star quality rating in 2019, the highest rating available—it was the only five-star rating awarded in Western Pennsylvania.

St. Clair accepts all major insurances. With its main campus in Mt. Lebanon, the Hospital also offers health care services at two outpatient centers: one in Peters Township and on at Village Square in Bethel Park. It is also building a new 280,000-square foot Dunlap Family Outpatient Center on Bower Hill Road.
