CLEAN & SHINY You can save money and the environment by making your own cleaning supplies. At 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, Mt. Lebanon Library presents Greening Your Cleaning Products with Marianne Garrity, a Mt. Lebanon resident and nurse educator at Forbes Hospice. Garrity will bring ingredients to the presentation and show you how simple it is to make natural cleaning products. If you bring empty spray bottles and small jars with lids, you can take samples home.

READ AND WIN If you plan to do some beach reading this summer, sign up for the Library’s Summer Reading Club. The club, which features divisions for children, teens and adults, kicks off at the library Monday, June 11, with activities for all ages between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. This year’s themes are “Dream Big: Read!,” which will help young children build reading and language skills and older children develop skills necessary for school success; “Own the Night,” which will motivate teens to read and discuss literature; and “Between the Covers,” which will encourage adults to use double entendres… and also experience the joy of reading. Signup is super easy online at www.mtlebanonlibrary.org, and you can register at any time up to the program’s last day on Saturday, August 4. All you have to do is enter the name of every book you finish into your account. If you are lucky, you may be randomly selected to receive prizes of book-related items, gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants and tickets to theater and sporting good events. We know one mtl writer who walked off with a lovely wreath from Mt. Lebanon Floral last year.  Just saying…

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME  At 9 a.m., Saturday, June 9, the Pittsburgh Rose Society will present an all-day Rose Exposition with table clinics and lectures on garden design topics. There will be more than 100 different roses exhibited in individual containers.
