Lebo to be home of first F&F Pizzeria outside NYC

F&F Pizzeria, the Brooklyn-based eatery known for its signature pizza — a fusion of Neapolitan and New York styles — is making its first move outside New York City with a new location in Mt. Lebanon. The restaurant and bar is slated to open in late spring at 307 Beverly Road, where Bado’s Pizza Grill and Ale House once stood.
Blending the convenience of F&F Pizzeria’s Brooklyn slice shop with the elevated, full-service experience of Frankies Spuntino and Franks Wine Bar, the Mt. Lebanon location will offer a mix of casual and refined dining. All three concepts were created by chefs Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli, who now bring their signature hospitality and high-quality ingredients to Pittsburgh.
“We’re not just another restaurant coming to town,” said Anthony Simasek, managing partner. “We wanted to find a place where we could be part of the community.”
F&F Pizzeria in Brooklyn has built a loyal following with its naturally fermented sourdough crust that takes 72 hours to prepare. The same process will be used in Mt. Lebanon.
“It’s flour, water, salt — that’s it,” Simasek said. “No artificial ingredients, just a high-quality product that eats really well. You don’t walk away feeling like you just ate a brick.”
Pittsburghers can expect F&F’s Pizzeria’s popular clam pizza and dishes tailored to local tastes. The menu will feature pasta, arancini and rotating seasonal specialties inspired by the team’s Brooklyn restaurants. These specialties are made with top-tier ingredients like organic tomatoes, Sicilian olive oil from its “Frankie’s 457 Specialty Foods” line and Grande Mozzarella from Wisconsin while being competitively priced.
The open-concept downstairs will house a 40-seat dining area, full bar, slice shop and exposed pizza kitchen. The second floor will offer additional seating and can be used as a private event space, while a spacious outdoor patio will provide al fresco dining in warmer months.
“We opened up the downstairs and blew out the walls,” Simasek said. “We’re also opening the windows up even more to be very bright, very welcoming.”
Castronovo and Falcinelli’s Brooklyn restaurants have become ingrained in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood over the past 20 years, hosting everything from baptisms to weddings. Simasek hopes to create the same sense of community in Mt. Lebanon.

“We want to be that neighborhood spot where people gather for all occasions, whether it’s a date night, family dinner, catching a Pens game at the bar or a special celebration,” he said.
A second Pittsburgh location is planned for the Strip District later this year.
