Food trucks in Mt. Lebanon?

Mt. Lebanon doesn’t have food trucks.

Of course, Mt. Lebanon didn’t have a brewpub, either, until recently.

And now the brewpub, Hitchhiker Brewing Co. is bringing food trucks and other mobile food vendors.

The first is Pittsburgh Smokehouse, which is to bring its grilling gear to Hitchhiker’s front patio area and serve its brisket and pulled-pork sandwiches from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 29.

Next, it’s the Pitttsburgh Pierogi Truck, which will be serving its dumplings from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 27.

Like it, other trucks will park in the parking lot beside Luma to serve their wares, which brewpub customers can bring inside to eat.

Hitchhiker’s Gary Olden (depicted here with head brewer Andy Kwiatkowski, making Hitchhiker’s first batch of ginger ale) says he’s doing this not only “to bring the experience of food trucks to the South Hills,” but also “to give people the opportunity to have different foods from what we normally offer. For those that are local, I think this would be a great Sunday afternoon event without people having to travel far.”
