Mt. Lebanon business owners and local officials in September met with Cindy Grubisa, general manager of the SpringHill Suites by Marriott, a 108-room hotel getting the final touches on Washington Road. Grubisa, who has been with Marriott for 12 years, said the hotel would open in late October, for starting rates of $139 a night with $12 a night parking charges. Once the hotel is open for a while, rates will settle in at $159 to $169 a night.

Although the hotel will not have a restaurant (they are hoping to send customers out to Washington Road for that) guests will get a free hot breakfast each day. The hotel is owned by Kratsa Properties, which owns 16 hotels in Pittsburgh, including the SpringHill Suites on the North Shore.

Each room can hold up to five people, with either a king or two queen beds, a dry bar and refrigerator, work station and a pullout bed/sofa. A small market, open 24 hours a day, will be on-site for guests to buy snacks or things for the microwave or a beverage. Meeting rooms will be available for the public.

The hotel will partner with local businesses, such as spas, to offer packages, and it will encourage guests to use the T to get to sporting events Downtown.

The hotel will employ about 20 to 30 people.
