Christopher Mark Jones, Jefferson Drive, released a new album, Incantations, this year. His music is a variety of different styles based on the acoustic styles of folk, Americana, blues and roots. The album includes multiple themes, such as generation songs, periods in a relationship, passage of time and vignettes. “Incantations the title song is my favorite because of the flow and not so obvious nature of the song,” Jones says.
Jones is publishing a book of lyrics from all his albums, due out in mid-October. Traveling, doing concerts, writing, recording and working on other people’s recording projects is where Jones sees his musical future. He takes pleasure in each step but recording is Jones’ favorite part of the process. “I see my music as a way of interacting through social and political aspects. Eileen Sharbaugh, Birch Avenue, has been named director of St. Paul’s Episcopal Nursery School, where she began working in 1989 as a teacher and most recently served as interim director.
Sharbaugh, a co-founder of Jeremiah’s Place, Pittsburgh’s first and only crisis nursery, has spent most of her professional and volunteer career as an early childhood educator and advocate. She has worked for The Homeless Children’s Education Fund, was a Together Time instructor for a pilot program through the Fred Rogers Company, an instructor for Friends of Child Find Inc., and the first coordinator for Mt. Lebanon’s Teen Center.

Rachel Wiles, an eighth-grader at Mellon Middle School, competed in the International Equestrian Association (IEA) Zone 2 championships and placed first in the Middle School Hunt Seat Future Beginner class. Rachel, who rides for the Caustelot Farms Team in McDonald, competed at the Horse on Course Farm in Valencia against the top riders in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey and qualified for the National Tournament.
St. Paul’s turns 60 St. Paul’s Episcopal Nursery School will host a community open house from 3 to 5 p.m., on Saturday, October 21. The open house will include tours of the school, photo displays and a video capturing the 60 years of the school. The Kona Shave Ice truck will be on hand for refreshments.
