The Art of Facts/Uncovering Pittsburgh Stories runs through January 14 at the Heinz History Center and features 53 works by members of the Pittsburgh Illustrators Society, which celebrates its 100th anniversay in 2017 and the second largest such association in the country. The history center challenged the artists to discover and share Pittsburgh stories in new and engaging ways. According to the center’s website, the illlustrations feature “everything from Andrew Carnegie’s job at age 13 in a textile mill to Walt Disney’s visit to Westinghouse to the story of Pittsburgh’s lost ‘H,’ and much more,” including captivating details of history that most people don’t know, such as the fact that there once was a roller coaster where Point State Park now stands.

Now Dr. Megan Huyett. DMD, has joined her, permitting them to offer expanded office hours as well as new technologies and services. Hirschfield Louick, a Mt. Lebanon native and resident, has received many distinctions and professional awards. Huyett, a 2013 magna cum laude graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine,, is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, where she has distinguished herself in oral appliance therapy to treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
Bridget Peterson, a 2004 Mt. Lebanon High School grad, is moving back to Pittsburgh after 13 years to accept a position on the family medical residency faculty at the Washington Health System. She spent the past two years on a Native American reservation with the Tohono O’odham tribe in Tucson, Arizona, where she was a full spectrum family medicine, obstetrics and hospital medicine doctor. The Denison University graduate holds a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She earned her medical degree at Thomas Jefferson University. Peterson is the daughter of longtime mtl sales executive, Jean Peterson and Jean’s husband, Tom, who is the solicitor for Mt. Lebanon school district.
The Pittsburgh Shoulder to Hand Center on Bower Hill Road, recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. The center, owned by physical therapist Paul Brach, specializes in therapy for the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Brach has been practicing physical therapy for the past 21 years and has been board certified in hand therapy for 15 years. He has authored numerous articles about rehabilitation of the upper extremity and has lectured at national and international conferences. In 2003, Brach was the recipient of the distinguished Vargas International Hand Therapist Teaching Award by the American Association of Hand Surgery.
