Happy 70th Birthday, Rollier’s!

Family-owned and operated Rollier’s Hardware, 600 Washington Road, is celebrating its 70th anniversary with a series of special events over the next three weekends. (You can read all about the last 70 years here!)
“We are planning to make each weekend this month a little extra fun, because it certainly is fun turning 70, and we are looking to celebrate with our awesome loyal customer base,” said Derek Satterfield, co-owner and manager.
After spinning off from Rollier Brothers Plumbing and Hardware in Shadyside, four generations of Satterfields have been at the helm of Rollier’s Hardware in Mt. Lebanon since 1953. Derek and Brett Satterfield are running things these days, while their father, Doug, continues working there, as well.
We chatted with them about their long-tenured history in Mt. Lebanon for a story in the May issue of Mt. Lebanon Magazine. LeboLife blogger Karen Gottschall even shared about her love affair with the business in a LeboMag.com post earlier this year. If you love Rollier’s as much as she does, or just want to support a local business and say “Happy Birthday!” there’s plenty of upcoming events for you.
- Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13: Stop by Rollier’s for two BBQ’ing events. Saturday includes a live demonstration using Gozney (pizza ovens), Weber and Broil King. On Sunday, they will be cooking on Weber and Big Green Egg. Live demonstrations run from 11 to 3 p.m. Plus, there’s a raffle for BBQ related items, including gas grills and pizza ovens.
- Sunday, August 20: Fun for the whole family! Rollier’s is hosting a “thank you” concert from 6 to 9 p.m. Once the store closes for the day, head out to the parking lot for a free concert featuring the Good Guys Band. Enjoy food and drink from the VAYA food truck, Millie’s ice cream and Hitchhiker brewing.
- Saturday and Sunday, August 26 and 27: It’s pet adoption weekend! Local pet rescue centers will be present, raffles will be had, free samples and handouts will be given. Bring your well behaved pets for this special weekend.
In the meantime, take a photographic journey with us through Rollier’s history.
