Pierogi Power: Polish-Americans in Pittsburgh Baseball with Richard  Peterson

Richard Peterson, author of several books on Pittsburgh baseball, grew up on the working-class South Side, a community defined by its Eastern European enclaves. He’ll discuss western Pennsylvania players of Polish heritage,  including Pirates Frank Thomas, Richie Zisk and Bill Mazeroski, and Cardinals legend Stan Musial.

The Jewish History of Western Pennsylvania: 1838-1938

Presenter Eric Lidji is the director of the Rauh Jewish History Program and Archives at the Heinz History Center. He is co-editor of Her Deeds Sing Her Praises: Profiles of Pittsburgh Jewish Women and the author of The Seventeenth Generation: The Lifework of Rabbi Walter Jacob. 

Take Apart: Matt’s Maker Space Program
6:30 p.m., Monday, May 13
Representatives from the Children’s Museum present this program on electricity and circuitry. Kindergartners and first graders will get to take apart flashlights, fans and other electronic devices to find the circuits and mechanisms inside.

It’s Time to Compost!

This workshop, hosted by the Pennsylvania Resources Council, covers the benefits of composting, the process, setting up a compost pile, and ways of using finished compost. AARP Drivers Safety Class
