Greg Wharton is Mt. Lebanon’s new urban planning and sustainability coordinator. He will lead the municipality’s sustainability initiatives and programs, and assist with routine planning activities.

Wharton worked in planning and development for Cranberry Township for more than a year before coming to Mt. Lebanon.

The South Hills native and son of Upper St. Clair’s police chief, Jonathan Wharton, graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in history and is currently studying for a master’s degree in public administration at IUP.

He has been a volunteer firefighter for eight years, most recently in Cranberry Township, where he’s still a member of the company. He also volunteered in Upper St. Clair and Indiana.

Wharton is into pop culture and is passionate about sports.  He’s an avid golfer who also plays baseball and softball. He’s currently a utility player for both the men’s softball league in Upper St. Clair and the Washington Greene County Adult Baseball League. He also played rugby and football in the past and is a big fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wharton lives in Upper St. Clair, where he and his girlfriend, Allison, enjoy taking their rescue dog, Pepper, on walks.
