Frozen in time
We’re in the dead of winter, and while some of you may want to ignore the snow and hold onto hopes for spring, I think we should give Mt. Lebanon winter scenery its due. While I’m certainly not a fan of the overcast skies or everything being covered in road salt, the tall trees and Tudor homes outlined in bright white snow somewhat balance it out. Let’s take a look at some of the best winter images our photographers have captured this season so far.

My personal favorite: snow ducks. I dragged my coworker outside in freezing temps this afternoon after learning that dozens of ducks mysteriously appeared in Clearview Common. We weren’t disappointed. A commenter on Facebook said she saw a man and his kids making the ducks from a mold … I’m hoping they’ll return during the next snowfall.

Magazine photographer John Schisler used his drone to capture some incredible shots over Lebo after a storm in early January, providing a unique view of Howe Elementary, the golf course and lots of homes.

And he also captured lots of sledding action. I love the photo above — Mt. Lebanon Park feels more like a forest in this scene.

During an afternoon walk, this brick road looked particularly picturesque.

For those willing to brave the cold long enough, walking the trails in Bird Park is extra peaceful (and quiet) after it snows.

The back of the municipal building offers a unique look at Florida Avenue and the homes behind. On this morning, the snow storm reduced visibility substantially.

To finish it off: one more overhead photo, showing the Sunset Hills neighborhood. A beautiful snapshot of the community.
Winter may always be my least favorite season, but it still comes with some picture-worthy moments.
