The municipal staff meets each week to exchange information.  Here are a few things that were discussed this morning:

—Police Chief Nick Sohyda thanked every department for helping MLFD achieve the coveted international accreditation it was granted last week at the annual meeting of the Commission on Fire Accredition International (CFAI). Mt. Lebanon is one of only 160 fire agencies in the United States and Canada to be so designated.

—Recreation Director David Donnellan reported on plans for the July 4 fireworks and concerts, which will be held Uptown this year. Washington Road will be closed from Lebanon Avenue to Bower Hill Road around 4 p.m. for activities that will precede a concert to be held at 7:30 on a stage set up at the top of Alfred Street. Bring your chair or sit-upon!  Fireworks, provided by Pyrotecnico and shot off from the cemetery, will be bigger and better than ever. No one will be allowed in the cemetery.

—Mt. Lebanon Police Department has been asked to participate in the “Let’s Go Bucs,” campaign, which this year will spotlight local police officers on the scoreboard.

—Freshmarket has received is final approval from PennDOT.  It still needs to meet a few conditions set by Mt. Lebanon Planning Board before receiving final approval from Mt. Lebanon, but Planner Keith McGill expects all to go smoothly from this point.

—Commercial District Manager Eric Milliron will be offering a series of tech seminars for business owner who wish to start website or Facebook pages.

—Public Information Officer Susan Morgans reported that plans for the Sunday, May 27, dedication of the Veterans Memorial are shaping up well.  Jon Delano will be the master of ceremonies; Rocky Bleier will be the keynote speaker; WWII Vet Bob Daley will sing the National Anthemn; an honor guard of Vietnam Veterans will post the colors; Justice Blaise Larotonda will give the invocation and benediction; Committee Chair Dan Gigler will read the honor roll of those who gave their lives and additional music will be provided by the Center for Theater Arts and musicians from the Pittsburgh Symphony.  The dedication will begin at 7 p.m.
