Finish Lines: Jennifer Bibb Hisdorf

Jennifer Bibb Hisdorf, Moreland Drive, manages the Beverly Road and Washington Road branches of WesBanco, is treasurer of the Friends of Mt. Lebanon Public Library board and is a co-founder of POSH (Power of South Hills) Women Working Together, a business networking group.

How has POSH pivoted in the last year? We’ve transitioned to a virtual meeting schedule that has enabled us to remain connected. The meetings may look different but the deep relationships that our members have remains the same. We’ve been able to continue referring business and providing educational opportunities for our members. Something that is completely new and has been so fun for us to do is a weekly video series, “Ask the Experts.” Every Thursday we post a new video on a variety of topics with local experts—legal, finance, motivational, etc. A change in our platform has opened many doors in ways we never imagined.

How are the Friends of the Library answering the challenges posed by limited fundraising opportunities?  As most organizations, the Friends have also transitioned to virtual events, curbside shopping etc. The community has always been so supportive and it’s amazing to have that continue during these trying times. It can be a challenge when you have such a great calendar of annual events cancelled, but the support of the library staff and our amazing board leadership has helped us to remain in a great position.

What does the future of banking look like? In my 15 years in banking this was obviously the most challenging. Many people have learned to embrace online banking and mobile deposit and much to their surprise, they loved it! Banking as we know it will definitely change as more people have shifted to using less cash and more of these convenience type services. One thing that was abundantly clear was the importance of relationship banking. Business loan opportunities, grants and other loan modifications were necessary to help businesses and families remain in a positive financial position. Having a banker on your team of professionals who understands your specific needs and creates a plan for your success is very important.
