The Mt. Lebanon Finance Department is responsible for overseeing an operating budget of $35.2 million and a total combined budget of $59.5 million.
Our finance department has received numerous national awards for its financial reporting, and its financial practices have paid off with a bond rating of Aa2 from Moody’s, Inc., one of the top three credit rating firms. This affords us favorable rates when we need to issue debt for capital improvements.
The tax office accounts for all municipal revenue collections. The treasurer/tax collector is responsible for the collection, deposit and reporting of real estate taxes for the municipality and Mt. Lebanon School District.
Stormwater Fee
Mt. Lebanon bills annually for our storm water management fee. The fee is $8/month for a single-family home. Other property types are billed on a calculation of the property’s impervious area.
These fees fund operations and maintenance of the stormwater infrastructure, administration of federally mandated municipal permit requirements, engineering and technical review staff, and design and construction of capital improvements.
Sewage Fee
Through Jordan Tax Service, Mt. Lebanon bills residents a sewage fee that is made up of two components—municipal fees for operations, maintenance and infrastructure, and the sewage treatment processing fee from our sewage treatment processor, Allegheny County Sanitary Authority (ALCOSAN). The fees are based on water consumption.
Municipal Fee: $4.05 per 1,000 gallons
Sewage Treatment Fee: $9.73 per 1,000 gallons plus a $6.82 flat fee
Real Estate Taxes
The Mt. Lebanon Commission and School Board determine the annual millage rate at the time that each of their budgets are adopted. The municipal budget is adopted in December and the school district
budget in May.
