Our other farmers market is opening
If you’re reading this blog, you probably know all about the Saturday morning Uptown Farmers Market, which has been well-publicized by its new market manager, Kristin Wessell. That one [1] opened May 10 and runs through October.
We’re blessed to have another farmers market, and it’s finally opening this week.
The Mt. Lebanon Lions Farmers Market [2] runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, June 18 through October in the parking lot of Mt. Lebanon United Lutheran Church at 975 Washington Road.
Co-organizer and vendor Frank Zitibrosky of Paul’s Orchard, known to many regulars as “the Apple Guy,” says the market, like most, has lost a few vendors (including LaScola’s Italian Ice). but is hoping to add a shaved-ice vendor, and also gained a few vendors.
According to co-organizer Deanna Bartelme of Wood Street Bread Co., the new vendors are Ohio City Pasta [3], GoodLife Juices [4], Stacy’s BBQ (ribs, chicken, pulled pork) and Cinco de Mayo Salsas.
The market is opening a little later than usual because the church parking lot has been used by the high school. But there still isn’t a lot of local produce available yet. You should find kale and plenty of other greens for starters.
