SAVE THE DATE Summer’s almost half a calendar away, so we summerphiles need something to think about that will bring it closer to mind. Stop by Mellon Middle School on Thursday, February 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. to start planning for Mt. Lebanon’s third annual Relay for Life, June 15-16, at Mt. Lebanon High School Stadium. For those nit-pickers who say “Summer doesn’t start until June 21,” we warmly reply “It’s close enough for us, so you better back off with that stuff or we’ll hurt you. Not kidding. We will hurt you bad.”
In the past two years, the Mt. Lebanon Relay For Life has raised more than $650,000 for cancer research. Volunteers join teams or participate as individuals to maintain a 24-hour round the clock vigil at the stadium, walking or running laps around the track. Music, crafts, food booths and more help to make the event memorable. Visit the Relay for Life of Mt. Lebanon website to learn more. www.relayforlife.org/pamtlebanon [1].
BIKING ADVENTURE Join Mt. Lebanon residents Doug Ettiger, Bill Kutzer and Dan Mottsman at the Mt. Lebanon Library at 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, for Freewheeling in Cleveland: Three Guys on Bikes, a talk about a week-long cycling adventure around the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. During their trip, this trio of casual bicyclists set out daily to explore a different trail along the Erie and Ohio Canal towpath and the Emerald Necklace. The talk includes tips on planning your own adventure, including resources, lodging options and local day trips to get you in shape. A Q&A follows.
