Eating Your Way Through Lebo’s Farmers Markets: Lions Club

Continuing our stroll through Lebo’s farmers markets, it’s time to check out the Mt. Lebanon Farmers Market, started by the Lions Club over 30 years ago. (You can find all the details on the Uptown Market in our post from last week!)

If you’re in the mood for barbecue, Bad Azz BBQ and Chicken is a local, family run business that’s been voted Pittsburgh’s #1 Barbeque five years in a row.

Want some bread to go with that barbecue? Mediterra Bakehouse specializes in artisan breads, with locally sourced ingredients as often as possible.

Farm-to-table aficionado? Home grown sweet corn, dry aged beef and Berkshire Black Pork are the specialties of family owned and operated Logan Family Farms.

Next stop. Visit Nellie’s Pita for pita chips, spinach pies and meat pies.

Then, there’s Anthos Greek Imports, for personally curated and imported Greek foods, brought to you by the folks behind Anthos Bakery and Café

It wouldn’t be Pittsburgh without pierogies. LVIV European Kitchen promises time-tested authentic recipes made with fresh ingredients. Just like Baba makes!

Moving on to Farm 57 for organically minded vegetables and pastured pork, chicken and eggs. The motto is “food you trust from people you know.”

Dillner Family Farms is a fourth generation family-owned fruit and vegetable farm that hand picks its produce fresh each day. But get there before the lines start to form!

Want some local honey to go with your tea? Family-owned and run Costello Apiaries cuts no corners with its carefully developed honey. But you better hurry! When the supply of a specific honey runs out, you’ll have to wait until next year.

What’s your heat level? Promising a commitment to quality and using only the freshest ingredients, Brochachos Salsa serves up a variety of flavors; from strawberry to smoke and everything in between.

You might need some Wu’s Shaved Ice to cool you down after that salsa. Check out the 27 snow cone flavors!

Ready for dessert? How about some fruit or, even better, fruit pies from Sand Hill Berries? The family-owned and operated small fruits farm specializes in red or yellow raspberries, red or black currants, gooseberries, blackberries, blueberries and strawberries.

Then there’s Paul’s Orchard, in business for 35 years, offering over 30 varieties of apples.

In the mood for a sweet and salty treat? Wild River Kettle Korn is fresh popped on site, using all natural ingredients.

The Mt. Lebanon Farmers Market kicked off June 7 and ends October 25. The hours are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., rain or shine, at United Lutheran Church, 975 Washington Road.

The Mt. Lebanon Uptown Market, in the heart of Lebo’s Uptown District on Washington Road, kicked off Saturday, May 13 and runs from 9 a.m. to noon through Saturday, October 23.
